Patient Information

Oriental Medicine Consultation & Treatment:
At RAOMC, each patient receives individualized care based on their needs. For the initial new-patient visit, plan on allowing 1.5 - 2 hours. Return visits are about 1 hour. If possible, wear comfortable clothes that move easy. Of course, appropriate draping is provided as well.

At the time of scheduling your first visit, you will be emailed a set of patient forms to fill out ahead of time at your leisure. If you are unable to finish these forms prior to your first visit, please be sure to arrive 15-20 minutes early to ensure that we don't run out of time during your scheduled appointment.

Our fees are structured in a range based on the complexity of each case (which reflects time spent with the patient). We ascribe to the conditions of the insurance industry, therefore we bill at a standard insurance fee schedule for all procedures done per visit. For patients who chose to pay at Time-of-Service (TOS), we offer a discounted fee structure that is reflective of the reduced overhead that would normally be required when our office deals with insurance billing. All patients are required to pay at time of service for the initial new-patient visit.

Our service* rates are as follows:

Standard Insurance Rates:

Initial visit (new patient): Initial co-pay of $40-135, applied to the total billed to your insurance which typically ranges $95-250 based on complexity & time spent (10 min to >2 hours) plus remainder of bill not covered by insurance
Returning visits: Co-pay due at time service is rendered plus remainder of bill not covered by insurance

Time-of-Service Discounted Fees:

As reflected by the Standard Insurance Rates, fees are based on complexity and time spent. The average TOS fees are listed below.
Initial visit (new patient): Average fee = $135
Returning visit: Average fee = $75

Seniors (65 and older): 10% discount on office visits
Special consideration also made for young children and is based on time spent (which is typically much less than is needed for adults)

*Herbal formulas, nutrients & other non-service related items are separate.

In addition to insurance (upon verification of benefits), we accept cash, checks, MC and Visa.

About Insurance:
The issue of insurance coverage can be a complex one, therefore it’s best to provide our office with your information prior to your first visit so that we can verify your benefits. To add to the complexity, a verification of benefits does not guarantee coverage by your insurance company.

Once we bill your insurance company, you will be responsible for any amount not covered by your insurance company. There is a significant difference between the overhead costs associated with billing insurance and the discounted TOS fees. In some cases, your insurance company may reimburse only a very small amount which now leaves you accountable for a much larger amount than you would have been had you opted for the TOS fee. In this situation, it may be best for you to elect the option of paying at Time-of-Service and then use a super bill, which we provide and will submit for you, to request that the insurance company reimburse you directly. Feel free to discuss what’s best for you with our office manager.

We are considered by most PPO's to be "Out of Network" providers. Please be aware that we are not members of any HMO (including American Specialty Health) because these companies mandate less time spent with the patient (about 6 minutes) as well as dictate which treatment modalities can and cannot be used regardless of what the patient needs as determined by the healthcare provider.

Workers Comp & Personal Injury Cases:
We are accepting new Worker's Comp patients, however we prefer not to be the primary and we require a pre-approved prescription for acupuncture treatment prior to accepting the case.

At this time, we are not accepting any new PI patients unless you are already an existing patient at our clinic. If you are an existing patient and find yourself in this situation, just let us know. Please note that we do not accept Liens.

Cancellation Policy:

Late Cancellation fee: Equal to the time-of-service fee for the scheduled visit

To avoid the late-cancellation fee, we require a 24-business-hour notice. If you cancel your appointment less than 24-business-hours in advanced AND we are able to fill your time slot with another patient, we may at our discretion waive your late-cancellation fee. We will make every effort to fill your spot as we understand that sometimes things happen beyond your control.

A “no-show” refers to when a patient misses a scheduled appointment without notifying our clinic. At our discretion, we may require patients with a history of no-shows to secure future appointments with a check or major credit card at the time of scheduling.
